Blogger Templates: The Professional Template

>> Browse templatesMoney tips408 comments

The Professional Template is by far the best template we have ever produced for public use. It has multiple columns that are flexible - it can either be a 3, 5, 6, or 8 column template without you having to do any coding. The basic color is white, but you can easily change all the colors and fonts without doing any coding. And you can change the header image to anything you want without any coding too.

This free Blogger template webdesign is based on a professional template theme. It can be either a 3, 5, 6, or 8 column template. If you want a 3 or 5 column template, simply don't fill in the smaller sidebars on the right and the lowerbar widgets; then make its colors blend with the post column.

The left sidebar is 120 px wide, and the main right sidebar is 300 px wide, perfect for vertical and square Adsense boxes. The two smaller rightsidebars are 132 px wide. All the 3 lowerbar columns are 278 px wide.

Features
Important: Change your template without loosing any sidebar widgets.
Help links: template installation guides and instructions.

Header Image

To put the header image in your blog, click on the image below to open up a larger size and save it into your computer. Then, upload the image using the Layout > Page Elements > Header Edit tab. If you want to use your own image for the header, the image width has to be 970 pixels (with any height).

Header image adapted from helmet13 (credit accordingly if use).

This new XML Blogger template is free but please value our hours of design work by leaving the footer credit to Ourblogtemplates.com intact.

I have downloaded this template and used it for my test blog Pruebas Azules

It is certainly beautiful, the problem is the lower bar only shows me two columns instead of two and there is no way I can add the one at the right.

What would be a solution for this?
Thank you!

Actually, this is what happened:
When I uploaded to a blog that already had three columns in the lower bar, it worked fine, but the layout in Page Elements Tab was rather messy: the third column was pushed down to the next line.
However, when I uploaded to a blog that did not has three columns in the lower bar, it only showed 2 columns both in the blog and Page Elements Tab. How to fix it?

Still love it though.

OBT November 10, 2008 2:12 pm

Okay. Try upload the template file again. I've fixed it. Small thing on the margin and padding.

The old file works fine too except that you'd see only 2 columns in the lowerbar when you're in the Page Element mode.

i've downloaded this template and used it for our family magazine, building strong boys.... it's very nice, thank you. i'll still need to do some tweaking on the code... some alignments are not as sharp as they should be.

I have an error while trying to change theme from Minima Dark to The Professional template (by Our Blogger Templates). Uploading the xml file results to this error code.

bX-7m0mrj

Is there a known solution to this?

Rela Pantaleon November 22, 2008 1:01 pm

Woo hoo!!! I finally made this work by doing the following:
- used IE
- removed widgets
- cut and pasted code in Edit Template (instead of uploading the xml file).

Rokas November 24, 2008 2:30 pm

I got this error when uploading xml file to blogger.com: bX-7m0mrj
Does anyone know why this happened

HI. This template is great but I only have one problem. In IE 6, the sidebar headline backgrounds get out of alignment -- the first one looks fine but each subsequent one gets out of alignment. the box appears too low fr the text and sometimes only a small part of it appears. It works fine in IE7 and Firefox. Any suggestions?

The London Agent December 12, 2008 10:04 am

Yep, I am a fan too and using this template on http://propertyinsightuk.blogspot.com/

I have noticed that when I put picture widgets in the sidebar they align right. Was this your intention?

I've Uploaded this template to my page but it seems that i cant comment on it.. Can u Tell me wats wrong With It??

James Stripes January 02, 2009 8:38 pm

I like this template, but cannot determine what I'm doing wrong in setting up the "Read More" feature, which I had hoped to implement as it is listed as a feature of the template.

I'm also having issues with ads not showing between posts.

Aside from those two issues, the template is far superior to all those offered directly through blogger. I finally have the ability to give my blog the professional appearance I sought, but without manys days on end coding and debugging.

Thanks.

2 Questions:

1) After installing went fine, I can not get the ADSENSE codes between the posts to work, even if they are activated in the layout. How can that be done?

2) Is there a way to adjust the different look in firefox? Like the huge spaces between widgets in the sidebars?

Well, just to dump everything what's working now: Firefox-behaviour and Comment Form is ok.

What's left is the problem with the ADSENSE code between the posts.

JUST ONE MORE: HOW DO I GET THE NAVBAR BACK ON THIS TEMPLATE? Or some sort of hidden link to make it appear?

Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Have a nice day and continue working on such great Templates!

Pls of you can explain me !

Thx in advanced !

Jill Marie Paulson: I opened your website using IE and there's no problem, mine cannot. :(

Hi

I found out already what causes the problem why it doesn't display properly (only two columns displays instead of three) in IE but everything is ok under Firefox and Chrome.

Solution:

disable the "Read more" feature. IE is too stupid, it doesn't understand a simple "span" function.

So bad, i love this feature since my posts are too long. I hope you have a slution to this. thanks.

Just a feedback:
I got the navbar back (even one what can be turned on and off).
I have no problems with IE (at least not when viewing it on my computer).
The next thing I'm gonna do is making the left sidebar larger in width...
But I still have no clue about the Adsense between posts.

For anyone still having the problem of using embedded comments with this template see this blog post:

http://www.bloggerbuster.com/2008/06/how-to-add-comment-form-beneath-your.html

Scroll down to the "Update:" to get the easy fix.

Now all I have to tweak is the expandable post summaries so I can get them to open on the same page with a fade effect like this:

http://hackosphere.blogspot.com/2006/09/expandable-posts-with-peekaboo-view.html

http://hackosphere.blogspot.com/2007/07/special-effects-for-peekaboo-posts.html

Roady January 18, 2009 5:01 am

@TheLabRat - Can't get that to work. Giving blogger error.

TheLabRat January 18, 2009 5:41 am

@Roady I had problems with the first fix on that page but none with the second fix, after the bolded "update." The only thing I can think of is to make sure you still have the embedded comments option checked and are using the second fix posted.

If that still doesn't work, have you tried the first fix? It's more complicated but maybe that will work better for you?

Figured out moving Link Lists around (including menu bar);

find in template items called linkbar or linklist (if you haven't added to template there should be two). THey should have a tage that looks like:

locked="true"

Change true to false and voila. Careful as there are other wrappers (such as header and main content) that also have the true indicator and I'm guessing you probably don't want to change those.

TheLabRat January 18, 2009 10:02 pm

A cleaner solution to switching the order of of the Menu Linkbar and the Header; I coudln't copy the code here so I posted it on my blog:

I still can not display google ads between the posts. It's enabled at the layout, but doesn't work.

Has anybody solved that problem?

Chris

Jill Marie Paulson January 27, 2009 2:45 pm

Hello, all...I know that many of you were struggling with the adsense between posts issue as I was and then I found this post - http://webtalks.blogspot.com/2007/03/adsense-between-blogger-posts.html - I can't even tell you exactly 'what' is different about these instructions apposed to the ones I had tried before, but this time it worked. Anyway, I have it enabled on my blog now. The only downfall is that after the allowed 3 ads are done, there is some extra 'space' below the remaining posts, but not sure it really bothers me that much with the design on this template. What do you all think??

Radix Muar January 29, 2009 6:25 pm

Hi,
Found duplication of widget for Linklist1.

Below is the code

div id='side-wrapper'
b:section class='sidebar' id='sidebar4' preferred='yes'
b:widget id='LinkList1' locked='true' title='Linkbar' type='LinkList'
/b:section
/div

Hopes this info able to rectify the code.
By the way thanks for the nice template.

Wish to learn more how to create the template.

VVN Network February 02, 2009 1:07 pm

Great template!

The advertising network that I work through has three sizes of ads, two of which are fine. What I need is to be able to change the width of the two thin columns on the right side of the template (below the wider right side column).

Right now they are set to 132px wide. I would like to make them 160px each (which would mean making the wider box something like 340px) or, even better, the left one 160px and the right one 104px (no change in width for the wider box).

Is there any easy fix I can make to the HTML code that would allow me to do this?

Thanks for all your great work.

If anyone is still troubled by the fact that your menu bar looks huge in firefox

1) don't worry; it only looks that way because you are signed into blogger while viewing your blog. Log out and relaod your blog page and you'll see it looks different.

2) if it still bugs you knowing that (it did me) scroll back to the main post of this page and click the "menubar" link to go to OUr Blogger's description of the functioning menu bar. The 8th comment there is from me and details a FF plugin that should help you. Feel free to email if you have any problems (there's an email link in the top of my blog from this profile).

Great template.

I was wondering if someone could help me with the spacing on embedded lists.

http://vintagevinylnews.com/

I like the spacing on the majority of the page, but I would like to tighten up the line spacing on the lists. Is there anything I can change in the HTML that would take out a bit of the white space between lines?

Thanks.

I was trying to add this template in my new blog and I have been getting errors. Also, I can't modify my current template which I have on my blog (http://roady-making-money.blogspot.com) by going to Edit HTML because I was trying to add a comment [code] and while trying to preview or save, I was getting the error. Has blogger changed something which is making this template unusable?

Like others, the NAV-BAR disappeared!
Found a very cool Peek A Boo Nav Bar here:
http://www.blogbulk.com/2008/11/how-to-remove-or-hide-navbar-in-blogger.html

2 PROBLEMS:

#1 Comments below DOES NOT work - 2 strings of code as detailed on a few sites isn't found in my template!

If I select "POP UP window" it's ok

EMBEDDED COMMENTS - link goes no where!

#2 "Read More" ... DOES NOT work on this one or PALM or SKY BLUE

When / span code entered - post cuts off - text is available in edit post - but not on blog

OBT - what to do??

Thank you for this template. It's the best I've found.

Many of the comments from others are about the formatting after a blog post -- can't put in Adsense, can't see the comment section, etc. Basically the buttons you click on the Blog Widget do not have any effect on the appearance. For example, the "star rating", the "geo tag", etc. do not work. Is there some setting that I have wrong, or is there some part of the code that can be fixed?

Can anybody help?

Thanks a bunch.

how do i get my navigation bar back to give me access to the blog

Miriam March 23, 2009 3:02 am

Hi, this site is the best I've found so far on blogger templates, I'm following the tutorials to get to know about my blog.

However I've downloaded this template to use it in my blog and when I try to open it, it seems my computer is not able to locate the DTD file, I get an error message about not being able to see the XML entry with the style sheet. I've tried with some other templates in this site and I always get the same error. I would love to use this template, I wonder if anyone could give a clue on what's happening.

Thanks a lot!

Take#2: I Left a comment but it kindly was deleted? I still Love, Love, Love the template, but widgets "gadgets" upload empty (no data). I'm no longer trying to upload my 30 something widgets, my focus is on one. Please advise on how to upload the "followers" widget in particular. What particular string of code should come before the "b:widget" code? I would be forever grateful for someone's help.

Cosmo Vitelli March 30, 2009 12:05 pm

Beautiful template. I choose it for my blog. Thanks!
Cosmo

Greenlava April 01, 2009 1:49 am

To Ebony Brown, since you've lost all the widgets, I guess the best thing to do is install them back manually. You copy the codes, then go to Dashboard>Layout>Page Elements. You click on Add Gadget and choose HTML/Javascript. Paste the codes inside the window, then Save.
Sorry for the lost widgets, but the next time you change template, you can keep them with some simple steps. Google "changing blogger template without deleting widget" and you'll find the answers.
Hope this helps.

I'm currently using this template and I think its great. I need to know how to make more blogger pages within the blog template. This template comes with a "Links Bar" that I'm not using because I'm not sure how to create a new blogger page. Anybody knows how to do this? By the way the "webfixer" helped to correct the comment form problem with this template. www.picturepurchase.blogspot.com

Great template. Page elements in Blogger don't show the proper alignment, but in the actual blog they are fine.

One question. The linkbar looks too tall. How do I change the height of the linkbar?

Unknown April 12, 2009 7:38 am

This design is brilliant! Very easy to customize and doesn't seem to have any bugs. I've changed over my weaving blog and it's perfect. I'll be using it on my beading blog next.

Sunny Cove Home, if you have categories on your blog, just click on one of those and higlight it's url to use for the page links.

Craftpassion April 19, 2009 7:51 pm

Thanks fo this great templates. Used it in my blog: www.craftpassion.com
I have a few questions about how to do a little change on it:
1. the ads in between post didn't show after I set it with blogger page element, why?
2. How can I widen it? I need a wider left side bar and post area, say about 150 px and 700 px respectively. Left and bottom looks fine for me.
3. I would like to add dotten line in between post, how?
4. I would like to add an ads on my header (on the right hand side of my header), how?
5. I would also linke to add another link bar below my header, how?
Thanks.

I downloaded this to my practice blog, so that I could work out all the bugs and then put it on my home site.

There is no link bar, and there is only one element in the lowerbar. Not sure why this happened. There was only one element before I added the texture. I'm still working on the header. It's kind of anemic right now!

Any feedback you could give me would be greatly appreciated. My practice blog is at http://tobpracticeblog.blogspot.com

Hello. I've used this template for the past 4 months and it serves me just well. The matter is, during the past month, the RSS feeds of my blog no longer can be read by other bloggers who linked me in. I like this template very much, and to change it (so that my RSS feeds can be read automatically by whoever put me on their blogroll) has never occurred to me. What's the solution for my problem? Hi! I'm using this template in mafiadacova@blogspot.com and i like it very much. Bui i think it has a problem. When loading the blog it starts loading by the left column, then the posts column and then the right columns. is it possible to load the right columns before the posts columns? I'm asking this, because our blog has lots of posts everyday and takes sometime to load the right columns. How can i do this? If possible answer for our e-mail at mafiadacova@gmail.com

Thank you very much!

Solution to get back nav bar:

go into layout, edit html and scroll down until you come to navigation bar ..... then delete the lines

visibility: hidden;
display: none;
then hit save and hopefully you are sorted.

Marcy K. July 06, 2009 3:30 pm

I have looked at hundreds of templates and this is just the most beautiful. Can you tell me, since there are several other templates based on this one, specifically Autumn Fall and Cooozie, besides the difference in colors and framing, are there any other differences I should be aware of? I'm trying to figure out which one to download.

Also, I would like to be able to have all the titles of my posts listed in one of the sidebars, not just the latest. How would I do this since that gadget is not listed in Blogger? I have seen on other websites, like BlogDoctor, that he has figured out the code to do that, but would that work with this template? I do not know how to code.

Thanks so much for such a beautiful work.

I've just opened my own eStore 'pcstockmarket' (http://pcstockmarket.zlio.net) online with www.zlio.com, and I'd like to let you know about the service. It's loads of fun, and it takes less than 5 minutes to create your own online store. But, most importantly, there are no logistics to deal with: Payment, product delivery and after-sale support are the sole responsibility of partnering ZLIO Internet merchants! All you need is a bit of imagination to select products for your store (from a catalog of over three million items from the Internet's top merchants). And best of all - you get a commission every time your shop sells something (paid by the merchant, so your products aren't any more expensive than they would be elsewhere).
